People stop me all the time when I’m out with my dog Jasper, and comment on what an amazing dog he is, so magnificent, gorgeous, well behaved, you name it. When they ask where I got him, I say he’s a rescue and most can’t believe it. Believe it. Yes, my Jasper is amazing. But there are many, many incredible animals out there needing homes, and they will blossom with the right love and care, just as Jasper did. Most just need to be given another chance at life.
Having a sense of community in my life is very important to me. I feel that also means giving back into that community. My photography has given me a unique opportunity to ‘give back’ through my work. Since 2009, I’ve donated photo shoots, custom dog art and many of my dog books to help with our local rescue. I also set aside several days each month and volunteer to take photographs of shelter animals. Professional photographs can greatly improve the chances of animals being noticed and adopted and I’m hoping mine will help many animals find their perfect homes and people discover their perfect new family members.
